A Better Place to Live

Recently my parents told me to find another boarding house which is, cheaper, (which also means more affordable). For college students who actually live far from their campus(es), boarding house is like, their second home (almost beats the 1st, actually), a heaven-like place to just throw yourself onto your bed, a place to hibernate when you're sick (or when you don't feel like doing anything), the best place to just procrastinate, do homeworks, watch tv, study (I almost forgot about this, lol) and etc, etc.

epic.

The rent fee varies, depending on the facilities that a boarding room has.
Now what are the things a boarding room can possibly have?

1. Air Conditioner
This was pretty much a huge factor of whether I was going to take the room or not. The place where I live has a nasty hot weather. So when I first entered university, I decided to take a room which has AC. Understandable, right? But usually when a boarding rooms has AC inside, it means, more money to spend (if you know what i mean)

2.Beds (you don't say?)
You can't call it a bedroom without a bed. So basically in each boarding house, they surely provide beds in each room, but the comfy level (that's how I call it) vary. For example, in my current boarding room, the bed is somewhat too adaptable because when you sit on a certain area of the bed more often than other areas, it'll become softer and softer till it become so soft that you can feel the spring and almost sit on the floor. But don't worry, once you get off the bed and start to not sit there too much, it'll automatically be back to its original shape and not too soft as it was.

3. Cable TV
Well, this is actually something that helps you relax when you have a day off. With cable TV we can watch international channels with a lot of movies and series. Nuff said.

4. Bathroom
When you have a bathroom inside your boarding room,
Firstly, the room can be a damp room. So when you leave the room with AC turned on, the room will be ok. But when it's off, and you leave it for a few days, when you get back you'll be able to smell the dampness. The advantage of having your own bathroom is, you won't be sharing it with people you don't know (who might not be aware of its cleanliness). Just do'n't forget to clean the bathroom.

5. Internet
Lastly, (but absolutely not least) is the internet. Internet connection is an important thing to have in your boarding room (or at least that's what i think). There are several internet providers around boarding houses and the connection speed also varies.

I believe each person has their own preferences of their boarding house facilities. Some people might think "Oh I just need the room and internet, I don't need the bed", and some others might think "I only need the bed, I don't need the internet, tv, and such".

Back to my story, I'm trying to get a more affordable room, but comfy enough. So I have to eliminate some of   the facilities that I'm currently having in my current boarding house. Surprisingly, I decided to eliminate "AC" and guess what, the new boarding room with no AC is gonna be 40% cheaper than my current boarding room. Seeing the bright side, I still have my precious internet connection. so, HAH >8D

If you were me, which of those facilities would you eliminate and which would you keep?

Essenza Commercial.. scary childhood.

Quick post! I suddenly remembered about this advertisement I was scared of. i can recall how i always cried when I was watching TV all alone and this advertisement popped up.
The music was somehow horror to me, and I think I understand why I used to get scared, watching this TV commercial.

Facing A Breakdown

Have you ever imagined how much a human being can endure?
If you're asking "endure what?" I'll say, endure everything.
In life we always face things. Positive, or negative.
If all of the things in this world were always positive, then there wouldn't be words like "endure", "pain", "tears" or "hate". So I guess you know now what i mean, what to endure.

Pain and failures. Those are the things that we can't separate from our life, past, present, or future.
Usually people try to get rid of those negative things by thinking positively.
Like me, I never wanted to be a person who gets used to ranting about my problems. Never ever, in my life.
I always try to be a person with positive thoughts, positive point of view, positive values, and another positive things. I don't even want to create a negative post on this blog.

But thesedays, I think i'm figuring out something new that I always refused to believe in.
"Even the happiest, kindest, most patient person in the world, can be in such a terrible breakdown"
I admit that thesedays I've been facing several problems. Facing those kinds of things, I try to endure as much as possible. Even when i'm in my worst condition, I'm always trying to at least smile. Because  I do believe that positive thoughts give positive effects.

Now according to the quote I made above, i'm trying to emphasize this fact that people have their own limits.
I realize that people are this and that, but only to a certain extent. Nothing's perfect , nobody's perfect- and the truth is, when people are at their limits, unexpected things happen.

Based on my observation (not that I made a special research about this), there are a few stages that can bring someone to their limits:

1. First stage, is terrible mood. On this stage, people feel unaccepting of what happens in their life. This can include angriness, gloominess, and sadness. After a lot of things happening, people can get to the next stage.

2. Second stage, is frustration. This stage is similar with the first stage, but people tend to be more expressive and react relevantly to their problems. The pain usually has become deeper and this causes a constant frustration and thoughts of how he/she can get out of the situation. In this stage, people tend to struggle so much to fight against the problems or find a solution.

3. Third stage, is depression. In this stage, people will most likely be tired of the problems or pains that they have. In most cases, a lot of people will try to give up their hopes. Being pessimistic and pathetic is also an common thing to have. They will reduce their efforts and the struggle is decreased by its own.

4. Fourth stage, is a combination of frustration and depression. In this stage, their personality will seem to have changed a lot. People who have reached this stage will struggle and be depressed at the same time. Outside, they seem strong and firm, but inside, they're as weak as they can be. They can look both as optimistic as they can and as pessimistic as they can, continuously or even simultaneously.

5. Fifth stage, and this is so far the highest stage that I'm aware of, is destruction and carelessness. After being depressed and frustrated, people will grow tired of the situations that they have. Even the most patient person and the most stable person in the world can be tired psychologically. The most dangerous thing in this stage is, people will not care about themselves. After being extremely tired of what they face, they will really lose their hopes and positiveness. Even some people can turn insane, or kill themselves. Therefore, this is a serious problem.

Your limit exists either in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th stage.

Now what?
The only thing that can help is a support. No matter who it comes from, a support is very important and effective. If it came from their beloved people, it would help a lot more.
What if they don't have close-related friends or family? Like what i just said above, it doesn't matter, as long as they get the support.

Look to your left, your right, your front, and your back.
Always remember to care about others even just a bit, and put yourselves in their shoes.
Would you need those supports when you feel alone and don't know where to go to?

Answer the question,
and you'll know what to do.

A Crazy Little Thing Called Friendship

Wow, it turns out that I never really talked about friendship. Somehow it's an odd thing, because I'm a kind of person who values friendship , well, you can say, a lot. So let's talk about this favorite thing of mine. Friendship.

Yes, I believe most of you readers have friends, whether they're just casual friends or ultimate BFFs. Every single friend has a different meaning to you, and it's either changeable or permanent, depending on the situation that you have with that certain friend.

What is friendship? And how much do you value friendship? In life, every single one of us (including myself) surely experiences a lot of things as we grow older, and this thing called friendship has always had a major role in my life. Since I was young, I've been a person who appreciates the existence of friendship probably more than most of the people, and I'm aware of it. I'm a kind of person who wouldn't mind fighting until end to keep a friendship going on, because to me friendship is something essential in life and it's not something that we can have or keep so easily. Agree? Maybe some of you do, and some of you don't.

Speaking of keeping a friendship alive, I think I can say a few points that I have learned about keeping a friendship, based on my personal experience. Like i said before, keeping a friendship is , I wouldn't say it's difficult, but I'd rather say that it's tricky. Anything can happen in this world, in your life. That's obvious, right? So is with friendship. Anything really can happen.

First thing that I learned in friendship, is about building a trust. When you're alone, you have no other choices but relying on yourself. But guess what, It's not really difficult because you're the one who controls yourself and what you wanna do. When you're not alone, I mean, you have a friend, you wanna start building a strong bond between two of you. Trust is pretty much the soul of friendship. if you don't have this in your friendship, then your friendship can't be called a friendship, because basically and first of all, friendship is always based on trust.
What if he/she's not really trustable to you? My answer is: that's why you have close friends and casual friends. You, your heart, chooses your friends, the ones whom you're able to trust, and the ones whom you're not able to. One thing, if you want to build a close friendship, learn to trust your friend more deeply.

Second thing that I learned in friendship, is about supporting each other. Supporting is a really general word, but in friendship, support means more than a few specific meanings. In friendship, we have to support each other. It's what friendship's all about. Friend supports friend, and vice versa.
Unfortunately, there are tons of people who misunderstand about this matter. When you support a friend, it means that you care about her/him. You want the best for your friends, and therefore you support his/her willingness, or dreams. But what I want to point out is,  what if they want to do something that's harmful for her/his life, or let's just say, it's not good for her/him? Support them to get away from that road. It's your job, to be a good friend for them. Most of the time, they're not going to agree with you, or they will even think that you're ruining their plans / dreams. Show them that you're doing this not because you want to break their dreams/plans, but it's because you care about them, so you want to tell them what they're doing wrong as a good friend.

Third thing that I learned in friendship, is about patience and endurance. Once a friendship means a lot to you, you don't wanna let it break. But sometimes, people just stop putting hopes in a friendship, just because they don't have the patience. In this point, I think I have a few views that might contradict other people's opinions. I have told you that I value friendship more than most of people, and somehow this fact has something to do with my patience. I've been through a lot of friendship, really close ones, and until now, my patience still keeps improving. It's a good thing, but people have different views about how much patience you  have to give in a friendship, so yeah, I've been called stupid and idiot for being patient in a friendship that I was trying to keep.
Here's the thing, when you're in a friendship, don't think how much you have sacrified / given to them, but think how much you value that friendship and how much your friend needs you.
There's no such thing as perfect friend in life, and if you're trying to find a better friend each time you get hurt, believe me, you'll never find a friend you want. That's why we have to really know what we want and how we can get it. This is leading to my final point about things that I learned in friendship.

Lastly, I learned about appreciating a friendship that I have. This is the most important thing that I have learned from the friendships that I've had. I have lost many important friends, I've faced a lot of problems and conflicts with my current friends, but I'm thankful that It happened. Those things are the things that always tell me to become a better person, a better friend. Friendship is more than treasure, because it's priceless. You might be able to move on after you lose a friend, but when you look deep inside and back to all of the memories that you had, you'll realize that it's actually never replaced. So appreciate your friendship with all of the goods and bads in it, and be thankful.

Actually there are a lot of things about friendship that I haven't been able to explain in this post, because there are tons of things, maybe countless. But I hope that this topic (which seems to have become a bit too serious in the end of the post XD) is interesting enough to read.

Until my next post, see ya!
Long live friendships around the world :)

Interesting? Iya, cuma bagian liburnya aja. #namanyajugamahasiswa

Anyways, gw baru inget kalo akhir-akhir ini gw jadi sarapan setiap pagi. Entah kesambet setan atau gimana, gw jadi suka beli roti (dan makan, tentunya) sebelum gw berangkat beraktivitas, baik pas gw ada kelas, maupun nggak. Fyi, gw ini orangnya hampir ga pernah sarapan. Kalau kuliah, nggak sarapan. Kalau nggak kuliah/libur, tidurnya bangun siang. Jadi sama aja nggak sarapan.

Seberapa penting sih sarapan? Gw pernah denger pepatah seperti ini:
"Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a beggar"
Tapi guys, yang membuat gw kaget adalah kalimat "dinner like a beggar"

Omaigat. Kalau kebiasaan gw dijadikan sebuah pepatah, bisa jadi kalimatnya begini:

"Breakfast? No, wait until lunch. Lunch? very very much. Dinner, can be at any hour."

*facepalm*
Rasanya jadwal makan gw sangat hancur.

SMA:
1. Sarapan (Nasi goreng/nasi pakai telor ceplok/nasi pakai nugget/french fries -> sok elit, ga sekalian burger aja apa sekalian)
2. Makan pas istirahat pertama jam stgh 10 pagi (Nasi kuning/nasi campur)
3. Makan pas istirahat kedua 11.15(berbagai macam snack yang jumlahnya nggak kira2)

Gimana? Beda jauh?

Let me tell you, pas gw SMA, berat badan gw SELALU KURANG DARI 50 kg. Terakhir gw nimbang berat badan, (setelah UAN SMA) berat badan gw 46 kg.
Pas kuliah, *drum rolls*
Berat badan gw SELALU LEBIH DARI 50 kg.

Sangat tidak sehat, trust me.
5. Sisihkan waktu untuk berolahraga.
6. Tidur yg cukup. Kalau suka begadang, paling nggak siangnya udah tidur 1-2 jam.

What kind of feeling?

Yeah, I bet this post is going to be a very short one. Why? Cuz I'm pretty sleepy right now and tomorrow's a big day for me. Going to Puncak for several day to conduct a leadership camp thingy for my english club's new Board of Management. Excited? Sure I am.

As for the title, it just popped up in my mind not too long ago.
What kind of feeling? Actually it could be an unfinished sentence.

Examples:
What kind of feeling... do you have?
What kind of feeling.. do you hate?

so on.

I'm writing this because I realize that sometimes, people can be very confused with what they're feeling. Including me, sometimes I don't know exactly what i'm feeling. Am i mad? upset? flat? or happy? A kind of mixed feelings love to give us a hard time finding clues to read our own heart.

And i guess, I can say that I'm easily confused with what I exactly feel, nowadays.
So, just a quick vent from me. :)

See ya!

Meaning of Loss

Loss. One word. Four letters. Thousands of reasons. And yeah, millions of meanings.

Nowadays, I've been very aware that almost every single thing in life is unexpectable. Then, this word "loss" is a word which is very affecting myself right now.

Now let me ask you one thing,

"Have you ever lost someone?"

Well that question, ladies and gentlemen, to me (and i believe to everyone as well) is a question that doesn't need to be answered. Then why did I just write those words above?

To tell you the truth, I kinda like psychological things. I like to guess what others are feeling, to analyze and predict how people would react to something in several cases, and so on.
I wrote that question above because i know someone would probably read it.

Nobody's really a big fan of my blog, but hey, readers, if you were really paying attention to that particular sentence i wrote above,
"Would those memories of you and people you lost suddenly come back and grab your emotion, even just for a slightest second?"
We've ever lost people we love(d). No doubt about it.
Family, friends, lovers, or anyone who really means a lot to us.

Some people can't accept loss, some people can. Some people are still wondering why it happened. Hurt, it does. We lose people because of many things. Death, misunderstanding, tiredness, anger, confusion, depression, pressure, lies, and bunch of other things.
"Why does it keep happening?"
is the question that people might have in their mind the most.

Now, I hope while you're reading this post, you're not hoping that i can give you the answers to those questions, cuz I can't (you can stop reading if you are :P).
I'm just going to share a bit about how I deal with loss.

I've lost people I love the most. Through many kinds of way.
As time flows, going through those breaking heart moments, unaccepting feelings, and such,
I realize that actually loss gives me a lot of meanings. Positive ones.
By losing people I love, it doesn't mean life's over. It tells me that I'm actually stronger than I thought I was.
I'm not saying that loss is a good thing. It's hard to go through, and it leaves wounds, no matter how small or big they are.

Firstly, losing people we love will turn us into a more grateful person.
We've had someone very meaningful in your life.
When we lose that someone, we're being taught and told how people sometimes can mean everything to us,
and i guess you already knew that nothing lasts forever, right?
Be grateful for what you have right now, and take care of it, because it doesn't last forever.

Secondly, by losing people we love, we learn how to be a better person. Sometimes we end up blaming ourselves because we think, we lose people we love because of our mistakes.
Let me tell you what I think. Mistakes are not there to be regretted.
Don't waste your life by regretting your mistakes and blaming yourself for what happened to you.
Be a much better person than before, because if everything seems to turn bad after you're facing a loss, it's not that loss which has caused it. It's yourself.

"Everything happens for a reason and everything has its own good"

Loss might be a bad memory for you, but memories you have are meant to change yourself into someone good, not anything else.

So those are my thoughts. How about you? :)

Undescribable

Sometimes you have those undescribable feelings.
The feeling when you really don't know what to say, don't know what to do.
When everything goes wrong, and you can't seem to make things right.
When u don't realize that u've had so many sleepless nights.
Waiting for something or someone you can cling to

Strange thing is, you don't exactly know why things are happening.
Why sometimes it feels like you're living a lie.
Like a bird with broken wings,
wishing to still be able to fly.

The Point of Moving On

Raindrops fall as well as my tears
As always,
Your clear image pops in my mind
Why isn't it fading at all?

Bolts of lightning scold..
As the weather gets colder than ever
Every single thing gets in thought
Which one to keep, i wonder?

I can even hear the cloud laughs
As it sees me clinging to my pasts
Should i remove what's in my head,
or should i let it torture me and say "go ahead"?

Finally the sun comes,
Beaming its shiny ray
Eventhough i'm still feeling numb,
Do you know what it says?

Keep those memories, let go all the pain,
Share the worries, don't get lost in vain

Betrayal does hurt,
but what'll happen once you move on?
Something much better is in the end of the road,
And it'll be the best thing you've ever known

Hair Issue : Rants?

Hair.

This thing really bugs me everytime it grows out of the way.
The fact that my hair is wavy doesn't bother me too much. But you know, there are so many curly out-of-the-way little hairs that makes my head look a lot bigger and messy. No, don't think that i haven't combed it. I comb it every time.

And guess what? it doesn't work.

My hair really "helps" me to make myself look like a total bum who doesn't have time to care about looks.
To tell you the truth, i do care.

The thing that also annoys me , is hair-fall.
I admit that it improves my neatness-o-meter because i would have to sweep my bedroom floor whenever i see hairs on it. I keep thinking that if i collected all those hairs that has fallen all these times, i would be able to make a wig, no, maybe hundreds of wigs, and i would start my own wig store. XD such an imagination.

But back to the topic again, is there any of you who have hair issues like me?
The word "Bad hair day" is usually used for days when your hair is rumpled, or looks really bad for a whole day.

It seems that for me, bad hair days = every day.

I wonder if i really should straighten it or something.

For now, i'm just gonna say that i'm still grateful for this hair.
Better messy than no hair at all. XD

Impersonator detected!

You know what impersonating means , right?
Nobody likes being impersonated. And that's what happened to me.
As you might have known, i'm a registration committee on my English Club's Southeast Asian English Olympics. Thus, people like me "love" to use phone call credits.
Me and my friends in Registration division used to make a lot of phone calls, text messages, and stuff. Therefore we often do Top Up, because our cell phone is using pre-paid SIM cards.
My friend, let's say her name is A, has a friend who provide cell phone Top Up service, to refill credits.

One day, she contacted me and the conversation went like this:

A: "Janet, is this your number? 0831xxxxxxxx"
Me: "No. why? o-o"
A: "My friend who has top up service for cell phone credits said that someone mentioning herself as you, asked for top ups a few times to 4 different numbers"
Me: "...What? I never did anything like that. o-o give me the numbers."

And then she gave me the numbers. I tried to call every single number she gave. But all of them were unable to call. Uh-Oh.

Me: "How much was the total credits of top ups the person has done?"
A: "490 thousands rupiah."
Me: "O-O..."

The hell?
That was crazy.
In the end i told her that i never asked for top ups, and it's impossible cuz i don't even know those numbers! o^o
So far nothing controversial happened (ex: someone sues me or something) so at the moment i don't want to bring it up. I hope it's just some kind of mistake. Or maybe, a fail fraud.

=.= My life is "not boring" thesedays.

Write here later.

Happy Days~ =u=

Hi everyone!
I'm back and first of all i want to wish you a Happy New Chinese Year for everyone who celebrates it.. Hope you'll get many red envelopes with moneeeeeey inside and live this year of bunneh happily. xD

Oh, if you haven't noticed the title of this post, go ahead and read it. I made it as a title of my post this time because of how the last few days of my life have made me unexpectedly happy :D
So i'll tell you a story about that.

Apparently i'm now still in exams week, and i have done 3 out of 5 subjects so far. I did all of them well including Discrete Math in which i did very badly on Mid-semester exam (i got a traumatizing D~).

The day after Discrete Math exam day, i went to attend a job interview. Yeah, i tried to send my resume and application letter to one of media and newspaper companies in Jakarta. My first job application ever. It was quite surprising that the lady lady (the one who posted about the job vacancy) emailed me and asked me to attend an interview THAT fast. I was so happy and kinda scared because i didn't know what i should prepare for the interview. But i prepared for it anyway, and hoped that my crappy english wouldn't be noticed. :P

I went to the office building with two friends of mine who applied for the job and got asked to be interviewed as well. I was wondering about how the interview would be. One of the things that kept stuck on my mind was "what if the interviewer asked me about how much salary i want?" On one hand, i want to mention numbers, but on the other hand, i thought that it would be a rude thing to say.
The day before, i asked some of my friends about that. It turned out to be more confuzzling because there were many different opinions. Like one of my friends who said  "You should mention Rp........!!" and made me go "o-o are you serious?" and my other friend who said " You shouldn't mention numbers because you don't have any experience yet and it wouldn't be pleasing to some companies" but finally my uncle said "There's no need to think about it because they have their own standard for a part-time job salary". Thank God.

I still remember the time when the lady asked us to come into a room. It looks like a meeting room,to me.
But anyway, she just started to explain the job descriptions and the salary.  In the end she didn't ask for a one-on-one interview, and handed me a paper.

Illustration:

Ladylady: "Here is the paper you should sign. :)"
Me: "o-o huh? *looks at the paper and read it*"
Me: *thinks* (O-O is this a job contract paper? i'm accepted?)
Me: *signs the paper slowly* *gives it back to the lady* here o3o"
Ladylady: "Oh, there are two papers there to sign"
Me: "o-o eh.. oh yeah. Sorry .haha xD;" *signs* *gives it back*
Ladylady: "Ok. Thank you :)"

and that's how the ladylady made my day. :D

I'm gonna start working right after The 2011 Southeast Asian English Olympics my English Club has been working on finished. I hope that this English Olympic will succeed as well :)
And after that... I should be more focused on my time management between college, work, and organization.

Oh.. have you ever heard about the college life triangle rule?
It says that in a college life, you can only choose 2 out of these 3 things: Social Life, Good grades, and Enough Sleep. It sounded really true at first, but then i started to think that i should break that triangle and get all those 3.  Is it possible? I think it's worth to try :D

Sooo wish me luck on this, and i'll write about other random things later.
See ya!

One epic day of refreshment !

HAH. Today was so tiring. It was fun though :3
I don't have class today so my friends (there were 8 of us) and i were planning to go to the cinema and watch a movie. I believe we do need some refreshing since most of us haven't done anything other than college thingy for AGES (hyperbolic expression, i know)

I watched the movie Takers.
Starring: Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen << dayum cute xD, Matt Dillon, Paul Walker (Fast and Furious)
It's about a group of high level bank robbers on a plan to find their $20 million and got interrupted by hard-boiled detective.

The movie was cool (the actions, effects, story), although i don't like the ending.
It makes me believe more that ending is really important in a movie.

Finished watching movie, we had dinner (nice dinner :D). So here they are, what i had for dinner.
(Since i didn't take any pictures,so i'll take the pics from uncle Google :3)

Unity in Diversity: My cases, experiences

Yes, i just know that 'Unity in Diversity' means Bhinneka Tunggal Ika >> Indonesian's National Motto. I find it quite interesting because it has a beautiful meaning.
Unity in diversity literally means that you can unite with everyone no matter what religion , what color, what nationality, what race, and so on and so on about differences.

Have you ever thought about being friends with people from other side of world?
To be honest i was used to think that being friends with people from other countries sucks, because they have different language, different humours (so sometimes i can't get what they mean), different culture (sometimes there're cultures that don't make sense to you), and last but not least.. different way in communicating.

But then, as i grow up, i suddenly have this curiosity to know how life is outside my country. Like, Do Americans have bolster pillow? Do Europeans know what Gado-Gado and Ketoprak are?
